These Specialist Teacher Training courses are routes to becoming a teacher and are aimed at supporting individuals whose ambition is to impact knowledge to others as teachers, tutors or trainers. This course will assist candidates in setting realistic outcomes and record these on an Individual Learning Plan of their learners.

Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning sector (PTLLS)

It is a requirement now that those without a teaching qualification will first gain this award in order for them to be able to teach. In view of this, PTLLS is the first step towards gaining a teaching qualification that will enable candidates teach in post 16 education setting on completion of their qualification. The course will enhance candidates’ knowledge and skills to engage their learners using diverse methods to drive their points. It will also enable them to plan a programme against current course specification, to prepare a scheme of work, prepare thoroughly for each teaching session which includes preparing a Session Plan and making use of appropriate resources and teaching materials.
By extension, after the completion of PTLLS, we advise that candidates extend their learning by gaining a Certificate to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (CTLLS) to further improve their skills and behavioural management.

Course duration

The course involves 4 days intensive practical assessment and theory plus build -up of portfolio.

Career Opportunities/Progression

On completion of this qualification, candidates will have the opportunity of gaining employment in a post 16 education setting, or adult learning setting as:

  • A teacher
  • A trainer/tutor
  • They can equally become private training providers

Candidates are able to progress to Certificate to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (CTLLS) and Diploma to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS)

Certificate to Teach in the Lifelong Learning sector (CTLLS)

This course is for anyone teaching in the adult learning sector. During the course you will be observed teaching at your place of work. You are required to have PTLLS before joining this course and you are also required to have key skills at level 2. We will conduct an initial assessment to ensure that you have this before starting the course.

We offer inclusive course which means that you can take on both PTLLS and CTLLS same time but will have to complete PTLLS before moving onto the next stage (CTLLS).
 
This Course is at Level 4 and Candidates will be expected to understand Research Techniques to complete the Assessment Portfolio. Learners will also need to be able to have knowledge of referencing.

The Assessor Award


The governments drive to bridge youths unemployment gap with the introduction of the apprentice scheme and other vocational qualifications has brought about so much relevance of this course. As a result, Assessors are well sort after. This qualification enables candidates to assess their learners’ performance and knowledge in work environment using a variety of relevant methods and approaches to enable and support individual learning styles. It will also enhance their assessment skills to work with their learners and give regular, clear and constructive feedback on their progress. This course will also help candidates to recognise and record learner progress, achievement and progression.

Course duration

The course involves 5 days class room based training and regular meeting with candidates Assessor and gathering of evidence.

Benefit

Candidates will have the opportunity of having at least two learners assigned to them for their practical experience

On completion of this qualification, candidates will have the opportunity of practicing as:

  • Workplace Assessors

It is a pathway towards progressing to Internal Quality Assurance Course (Internal Verifier)
